NONDUAL COACHING
"Riding in the boat, one even causes the boat to be a boat."
Zen Master Dogen (1200-1253 AD)
I love meeting people in the timeless spaciousness of awareness, True Nature. In nondual coaching, we awaken that which is already whole, complete and free. Direct presencing of our True Nature is always available. This can only take place in the present moment, now. It isn't about improving ourselves in some way that makes access available later on down the road.
Nondual coaching supports resting in this essential wholeness that has been called The Ultimate Medicine by wisdom paths. Why? Because when we are here, nothing else is needed. As the Heart Sutra of Buddhism says, "No suffering, no end of suffering, no wisdom and no gain." When we presence nondual (not two) awareness, we enter a different paradigm where we recognize the deep stillness and openness that is always available. We no longer find it necessary to judge and compare, pick and choose, and we can have this resource of resting in ultimate being. From this space we are able to fully assent to what is, and truly give up wanting things to be other than they are. Here we recognize the basic source of all our suffering and can effortlessly release the clench that comes with wanting things some other way. Here we are truly able to give up the search.
Becoming intimate with our True Nature allows us the spaciousness to inquire into our constructions that keep us caught on a conditioned level. Often there is a natural release of solidified habits just through making space and being with our stories, seeing through the dramas we create.
My companioning with clients in this function of Nondual Coach is a dance between the deep stillness of openness and the recognition of how we create ourselves in conditioned life, the personas we put on to walk around in our everyday world. We take the opportunity to become familiar with the flavor of effortless being, so it can become our homing instinct in the midst of everyday issues, problems and concerns. Through silence, dialogue and inquiry, clients are able to loosen up habits of holding onto suffering, which has become familiar ground for many of us. Beliefs that have bound us for a very long time can loosen their hold in this timeless present. The energy we've invested in holding onto constructions of ourselves is freed to enliven our lives in a fresh new way.
